>> ABOUT and GUESTBOOK <<
Hello, and welcome. While you are here you are in Central Florida with me, high up in a tree in the security of the nest.
The personal side:
A wonderful and unbelievably supportive wife since 1968 and 3 sons of whom I am so very proud — fine men all, with wives for whom “in-law” should be dropped from “daughter-in-law.” I am a truly fortunate person.
An enjoyable but sometimes very difficult 29 years, 4 months, and 16 days US Air Force, retired (but who’s counting?) – Aircraft Instrument Systems Repairman; Avionics Technician and Instructor; Avionics/Autopilot Shop and Branch Chief; First Sergeant; Mobility NCOIC; NCO Leadership School Commandant (founded and built the organization); NCO Professional Development Center Commandant (NCO Preparatory Course, NCO Leadership School, and NCO Academy, 3 courses, the latter 2 in-resident, under our roof); Senior Enlisted Advisor; Chief Enlisted Manager; and Logistics Officer. Pretty much began with Vietnam and ended with Desert Storm (Saudi Arabia).
2 civilian world jobs, one in the training field and “the retirement job” working at Walt Disney World.
Now truly retired.
The environs:
There is often a nice breeze or lofting thermals for soaring and the view is fantastic.
The glitzy fantasy world of Disney is just a few minutes flight time to our northwest, and the Ocala National Forest is farther to the north. The concrete and asphalt of Orlando are to our northeast, and farther to the east is the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, in which is strangely nestled the John F. Kennedy Space Center. From the nest even human eyes can see the occasional launch of space vehicles at the space center while others of the avian world circle lazily over the area closer to home. And some of the country’s largest gathering places for our species is just to our west.
Feel free to comment on anything you see here – everything is read. Time to respond is limited, so responses may be spotty. Your input is nevertheless appreciated. Enjoy!
Drop us a note if you would, just giving an indication of some sign of life out there on the other side of my monitor. No need to come up with a comment on anything, though you are certainly welcome to do so — just something to let me know you dropped in . In any case, thank you for dropping in.

I’m finally catching on. My excuse for being slow at it is I’ve never read a blog before.
At first I thought Eages’ Nest was maintained by a webmaster for some military group or other, and you were a contributor. Now I’m seeing that it is yours alone.
I always enjoy reading your stuff. It’s almost as good as talking to you. Almost.

Welcome, Jean! I’m glad to see you made it here and that you are discovering the world of blogs.
Yep, the nest is all mine, though Brian has done a great job of helping me build it up and with early maintenance. Some of those doggone twigs just didn’t want to go where I wanted them, but he was able to fit them quite nicely. Hope you enjoy the view!

Hey Bob,
I enjoyed the story you sent me and appreciate what you and Art said. You all make my job so much easier, you have no idea! The military approach that you bring to the table is a tremendous resource… It is a great thing to know that when you ask someone to do something, that it will be done, no questions asked! I look forward to looking into your blogs more, but as you know free time is a commodity for the next few months, but I will do what I can! Just dropping a line, and I’ll see you soon!

Hello, Andy, and welcome to the nest. Hope you drop by and find some useful eggs here! Yep, experience is a good thing; learn from mistakes AND from successes. Sometimes we tend to forget that last part. The next step is passing it all on to other folks. Had a fellow once tell me that leadership was getting the folks from one corner of the pasture to the other diagonal corner without anyone but him stepping in the doo-doo. Kinda liked that one until I thought it might be even better is everyone arrived with clean brogans on, including him. Proper planning and intel…

Hiya Bob!
Could you drop me an e-mail please? I really need to pick your brain about Disney World, and I wanted to consult a seasoned pro.
