The Weekend Part 1

Print This Post

Worked a cross country event on Friday and again on Saturday.
And then, the REAL race began…

She had already gone directly from work/school to the airport on Friday while I was at the event and was therefore a day ahead of me.

The last race on Saturday was scheduled for an 1155 start and I had made an 1810 (6:10 p.m. and from here on out do the math) airline reservation to New Orleans.  Shouldn’t be a problem at all — plenty of time to go home, shower, and make a leisurely drive to the airport.  Wasn’t sure what to expect on a three-day weekend, but I’d think most folks would be in place by Saturday evening.

Pressure Wash Follies - Update

[Update item added at #10 below]

For the first time in a week, yesterday I didn’t run the pressure washer.

It all began over a week ago with her comment that the patio (full width of the back of the house, covered and screened) was stained.

Well, yes.

A few years ago I had built tables across the entire rear edge and installed drip irrigation for more pots than could fit, so she could put potted plants anywhere she wanted to back there.  Partial sunlight, reasonable wind protection, easy frost prevention, and total water control.

Has it REALLY been that long? Part 2

The tulips opened quite nicely and the Irises were gorgeous.  They still are.

The edibles were excellent and I’ll admit to having more than my share of the chocolate dipped strawberries.  I’d estimate at this point there is maybe one fifth of the arrangement left.  It will be gone by the end of the day tomorrow, guaranteed.

So, I made reservations for supper Sunday night at a restaurant we normally wouldn’t even consider going to because of the cost, and we may regret having done so by Monday morning, but what the hell, it’s a special occasion.

And today I was in the garage when a refrigerated van pulled up in front of the house.  Ah Hah!  I recognize that logo — it’s the Edible Arrangements folks.  Oh, yes!!

Musings of the day

Ruth is getting perilously close to going back to school (work).  It’s interesting to watch the same mix of emotions regarding it that the students have.  It should be interesting with the initial year of student ”uniforms,”  and I use the term loosely, and only because the school board does.  Buy them wherever you like — no uniform store — I’m betting on at least three shades of khaki and even more of blue.  New principal this year, too, as is the case with my sister’s school.

At your ripe old age of going on three, you won’t be reading this, and even if it were read to you it doesn’t have the pizazz of The Cat In The Hat.  But, I’ve been thinking of this for some time now and it is time I made the commitment.

When I began this blog, one of my primary reasons was to chronicle my military career.  If others might be interested in reading it, so be it, but if not, that was OK, too.  The latter came to be the case, based on the lack of comments, but the number of search engine hits for those posts has been interesting to watch and the specific search terms that garnered the hits have been even more interesting.
