Is judgement a part of education?

I wish I could think of this as unusual or unbelievable, but I can’t.

NORTH BROOKFIELD, Mass., Nov. 18 (UPI) — A Massachusetts school district superintendent said a memo banning sixth graders from carrying pencils was written without district approval.

TSA and The Milgram Experiment

As Rep John Mica encourages airports to drop TSA screening in favor of contract screening (which would still have to follow TSA-directed procedures), likely to be followed by the hiring of already trained currently in-service employees, I begin to wonder two things.

Government-run health care. Ad exemplum: the Veterans Administration

Print This Post

I’m weary of people who have little to nothing to do with such a system telling me what US Government-run health care is all about.  Some are familiar with Medicare, some are past active duty military, and some look totally from the wayside, but all have opinions.  They disturb me as much as those who bitch and complain, and as much as those who lovingly support, a health care bill they haven’t read.

Just wanted to give you some thoughts along with saying I’m sooo glad you’re still in there.  One of these days I’ll be able to meet you and tell you face-to-face that you’re the only person in D.C. who represents me.  Sad state of affairs when there is only one, but that’s the way it is.

I’m sorry, Ralph, I didn’t make it

Ralph, I tried, man.  I really tried.

I dropped Ruth off at the airport a lot earlier than usual because we knew they had the porno scanners in operation now and the lines were supposed to be longer than ever before.  From there I turned on the seat heater, lowered the air conditioning temperature, and headed directly to Miami, intending to be staying at a hotel 9 miles away from the funeral home, where I intended to be for the viewing/visitation that ended at 2000.

One week ends and another begins

To end the week:

So Obama says, regarding the Terminal Stupidity Administration’s porno scans and groping the genitals of men, women, and children,

“One of the most frustrating aspects of this fight against terrorism is that it has created a whole security apparatus around us that causes huge inconvenience for all of us.”

Golf, rum, and gators (actually, crocs)

Peter has captured the ultimate in non-political correctness, this time involving rum and alligators.  Any explanation would be totally inadequate — you must see it to beieve it.  Be sure to watch all three video clips here

Ralph Lewis will be missed by many - updated

I got the call on Sunday evening from a fellow track and field official – Ralph Lewis had died in the hospital.  Only 2 days before, his condition was reported as “stable,”  I suppose in the way one is stable after falling off a cliff.

ObamaCare doesn’t apply to you if… now up to 111

More from the sleezebag.

I’m glad I’m not still on active duty.  I’d vomit if I had to salute the S.O.B.

Are lemmings idiots?

Print This Post

It would seem the Terminal Stupidity Agency is staffed by lemmings, or at the very minimum, management that demands their employees with brains not use them and act instead as lemmings.  See here.

And more on the privacy-killing, you’re guilty-because-you-want-to-travel, full body scanners, here. Note Update #2 at the bottom of the article — there’s more.

A week of ups and downs

So I’ll consider the week closed at this point.

Veterans Day was this past Thursday and the high point of the entire week occurred in only seconds. I didn’t go to a parade, and I was fortunately not at a graveside ceremony, but it was definitely the high spot on the calendar.

Veterans Day

If it’s the thought that counts, I hope this will do.

To all the brothers and sister veterans out there, happy Veterans Day.  Glad to know you and I are still around and are able to remember those who are not.  To most in this country you and I were wonderful to have around when there was trouble, but so easily ignored afterward.  Hopefully those who serve today will fare better with their return.

Wrong move, Jerry

I saw the game last night.  I saw the original plays and the replays.

You apparently weren’t actually watching the game, Jerry.

I have a better plan for the Cowboys’ improvement.

Oklahoma, bend over; the Feds are coming to help you.

I’ve read their book. They can have it. It is a tome of violence and repression at virtually every level. It reads less as a guide for life in a civilized society and more like a manual of war and domination.

And I’ve tried to draw the line between the radicals and the “others,” whoever/whatever that means.

Received in email, I’m not sure I agree with his opinion about the targeting of hate crimes legislation, though I strongly disagree with the legislation. Making any group special when it comes to protection and/or prosecution is just flat out not justice. The rest of the clip just can’t be denied, however.

Do you drive? Know a youngster who will or does?

Received this via email this morning, I can see many of our modern day wimps and wussies crying it’s too hard for our precious children who are to be protected from all things real world, but if I had my way it would be mandatory viewing in every school every year, and I’ll bet it would do more good than the occasional wrecked car stuck out there on campus.

  • My second and third M1 Garands arrived in beautiful condition from CMP.  Now I have almost everything I need to have assembled three complete packages of truly historic significance.  I’ve wanted to do that for a long time but wasn’t able to afford to do so until recently.

A book by Mark Spungin.  I ordered a copy and it arrived in the mail yesterday.

I opened it and took a quick look, intending to read it later, maybe in a day or two as I had other reading material not yet addressed.

And at 0317 this morning I finished it.
