“En Route” — A book worth reading
We all have “those days” and some folks in jobs where they encounter the random sample of John and Jane Q. Public probably have even more than most.
Ever wonder what a paramedic’s day is like, shuttling little old ladies from one facility to another, and then switching gears and responding to multiple-vehicle crash sites, or entering strange folks;’ homes at the worst of times? Ever wonder what some of the family members, friends, or bystanders are like? Ever wonder what happens when things go awry and all hell breaks loose in the back of that meat wagon, er, ah, excuse me, AMBULANCE, at highway speed and there’s only one EMT or paramedic back there to handle it all? You do realize you or I could be back there in patient status at any time, right?
Well, if you want to read the real life selections from an ongoing career, written with the appropriate seriousness of the moments, empathy and sympathy appropriate to the situations, and a sense of humor always, you really should read this one.
Ambulance Driver, known to his mother as Steven, and to some as Kelly, and to his blog readers as Ambulance Driver (or AD for short), has a book out. I received my pre-ordered copy on Saturday, but I wasn’t home to get into it. Now, despite studying for a certification test and having a couple of mandatory chores to do, I’m well into it and I highly recommend it.
I’ll tell you how good a writer he is. I’ve read some of the stories before on his blog. Now that I read them again in the book it’s as if I were there the first time and now I’m reading an account of something I actually witnessed.
Informative and thoroughly enjoyable.
Order here. At least go there and read a page or two.
And no, I don’t get a cut, and he doesn’t even know I’m posting this. It’s just a heck of a good read.
My copy, when finished, will be forwarded, as are most of my books, as usual.
