- Meager to begin with, I’m watching our IRA account dwindle as each day goes by. It’s already dropped below the point where I’d not have to pay a maintenance fee. Now the folks are billing me for “maintaining” an account that I never withdraw from. I know it must be horribly expensive for them to “maintain” my account as they use my money. It’s hard for me to have empathy and impossible for me to have sympathy for just about anyone in the financial industry. Bandits in suits.
- Tomorrow it’s range day, but only for two of the handguns, so I’ll opt for an indoor range. Going to a different one this time — price looks good, as do their online pictures (wonder how old they are). They advertise themselves as a friendly place (as opposed to advertising oneself as a place of tyrants and ogres?). I’ll know by 1100 tomorrow. The new 1911 will be eating its first boxes of ammo and the carry 9mm will be refining my technique again. Got to stay sharp on that one and it’s been far too long since the last session.
- Looks like the Obama administration is going to be “change,” but not original. Looks to me like a rehash of the Clinton administration, but perhaps without Ms Lewinsky — Clinton cabinet, Clinton health plan, Clinton assault weapons ban, etc.
- In an effort to expand my track and field officiating endeavors, I’ve applied for another organization’s certification. As I read the rules for, in alphabetical order, AAU, IAAF, NCAA, NFHS, USATF, and WMA, I’m struck by the differences. I expect differences having to do with athletes’ maturity levels and ages, but some of the differences seem to be quite unexplainable. So far I’ve officiated under all those organizations’ rules but one, and it’s quite a chore to keep the differences in mind.
- I’m traveling by air next Monday and Friday. God help me. The thought of dealing with the Terminal Stupidity Agency raises my blood pressure, and the thought of dealing with them in New Orleans, in my opinion the absolutely worst TSA location of all, is positively revolting.
