Sausages, laws, and surgery

The less people know about how sausages and laws are made, the better they will sleep at night.
and the slight variation,

I have about made up my mind that laws are like sausages — the less you know about how they are made the more respect you have for them.

(Attributed to Winston_Churchill, Benjamin_Disraeli, Clarence_Darrow, Mark_Twain, Kaiser Wilhelm, and Otto von Bismarck, among others.)

So, in preparation for my next spine surgery, I’m looking up a wee tidbit of information  and come across what seems to be an interesting link.

Here.   (Real Player required)
Sausage making begins just before the 6-minute mark.  And I wish mine were the minimally invasive variety.  C3-7 done. L4-5 done.  L3-4 and L5-S1 coming up, all with fusion.

I want a refund or replacement under warranty on this body.

I hear you, Bob, and you have my sympathy. I suffered a work-related injury that required fusion of L5-S1, but has left me with permanent nerve damage in the left leg and limitations on mobility. The surgery (twice) was No Fun At All . . . but hey, at least the surgery is available! I shudder to think what our forefathers had to live with in the days before such operations.

    Good luck and be strong.
